Lake and mountains in Bariloche

Bariloche works very well as a base: almost everything interesting is under an hour away, and the landscape shifts from lake to forest to mountain in the same day.

Key stops

  • Cerro Campanario: the classic lakes panorama, best in afternoon light.
  • Civic Centre: stone, plaza and the Bariloche sign.
  • Circuito Chico and Route 40: short stops chained together, ideal for a full day.
  • Nahuel Huapi National Park: Andean forest and waterfalls.
